introduction and why its different this time (maybe)

As a member of the free software movement I observed the coming and vanishing of communities. its always impressive how long some of those communities exist even if the founding humans are not part of it anymore. its also quite a bit of work to achieve this.

for the "agile community" its a mixture of different personas. deleted part of persona description

different goals lead to two distinct solutions.

social networking and encrypted chat. and both as fully free software and as federated systems. that way the solution is as neutral as it can be. every participant is able to choose their app, their service provider to trust and are still able to reach all others.

 social networking ...

... is to ask people into the void. stay connected with people you already know and also follow others and explore new contacts on the go. here an example of https://lolcircle.de

same conversation with mastodon:

with one single click you are able to follow all people of the agile starter pack with your mastodon account here:

yes, we tried to find as much people as possible ;)

that way its possible to stay connected to people you already know and how get into the fediverse together and also follow some people outside your bubble as well.  every post or thread can be fine tuned to reach the people you want.( Erste Schritte mit Mastodon )

encrypted chat ...

... is not public and can be the private channel where you exchange information noone not even your chat admin can read. chat channels are needed for different topic or epics ;) so multiple chatrooms with different compositions of participants are needed. like in the different rooms of freiburg social here.

especially for agile events like the https://social.cologne/@acccgn there is always the motivation to stay connected and in reality a one year break will take place until the new iteration of the event is reached.

each year different humans use different tech to stay connected during the long break. and it doesnt matter if its a signal, whatsapp, matrix, mattermost, slack, whatever group is the one no one posting into ;)

maybe its different this time

with federated systems that are free software noone is the "winner" because they are on "my" system. instead its ours and communication is breaking down the silos. how we do it during work time. its a looong and hard change project. and like those we can achieve everything if we agree on values and principles.
