What is it able to? How does it look like?

Our WWW has reached a unbelievable complexity. The web is full of ads, pop-ups and trackers. So one could just reset that story and start over again. Reflecting what the web was about in the first place, then reimplement with more modern tech stack. So here it is:

An electronic library of interconnected text documents

and do it complete new and very minimal. Its already some years and therefor not only an idea, but instead part of the observable reality. Out there, within the same internet. In a parallel world living next to the World Wide Web the Gemini Space.

Der grosse Unterschied ist der Minimalismus. Ich zeig euch das am Beispiel von taz.de denn die haben neben dem normalen Web-Auftritt auch eine Version im Gemini-Space.

Zuerst der Webauftritt https://taz.de, wie man ihn normalerweise anbrowsen wuerde: 

als ebenso normaler Mensch hat man beim Blick in den Quellcode dieses Dokuments schnell die Erkenntnis, dass man sowas nicht manuell im Griff haben kann. rechtsklick -> quellcode anzeigen bringt sowas zutage:

Ich hab am selben Tag die Gemini Variante auf gemini://taz.de  aufgrufen, das sah dann so aus:

Einfach nur der Text, weiter nichts. Keine Werbung dazwischen, keine Pop-Up Fenster. Einfach auch, weil es all das hier gar nicht gibt. ;) und der Blick in den Quellcode zeigt folgendes:

Ha, das kann man als Mensch immernoch lesen! un-glaub-lich. 

Was gibts denn da noch so?

Es kann alles moegliche von ganz vorn beginnen. Neue Suchmaschinen wurden geschrieben. Es existiert ein Soziales Netzwerk innerhalb dieser minimalistischen Moeglichkeiten. Es gibt einen tamagotchi-maessigen Community-Garten, in dem User sich gegenseitig ihre virtuellen Pflanzen giessen. Es gibt alternativen Zugang zur Wikipedia ...

und all das mit minimalstem Datenvolumen. Es ist so ressourcenschonend, dass man einen eigenen Gemini Server sogar zuhause mit Solarstrom auf einem pi pico betreiben kann: Sprint 2 - Gemini Server auf Pi Pico W
